Enigin Love Web Apps: The Apps we use

Not only do Enigin build web applications to support our Distributors, I/we also use a number of third-party web apps to help us collaborate as a team. Here they are!

  • Basecamp - We use this simple project management application from developers 37Signals to collaborate on projects.
  • Tada List - Another 37s app to manage a simple task list
  • Beanstalk - A source-control (SVN) hosted solution to allow the Enigin developers to work together on our code base
  • Google Reader - I use this simple app to read all the latest industry news from the websites I subscribe to.
  • Campaign Monitor - This app is great for sending email campaigns. It’s very easy to use and has the ability to provide extensive reporting on the number of recipients opening your campaign
  • WordPress - We use WordPress to power our corporate and staff blogs
  • Google Apps - I personally use Google Apps for handling Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheets and online Calendar

Using online software has the following benefits:

  • Access for everyone - Your team can access your business software from any Internet-enabled computer in the world! Great for home-based teleworkers
  • Your Data is Safe - All your data is backed up on remote servers and the responsibility of the software providers
  • No Upgrading - All upgrades to your software are handled by the creators. So no more holding your breath when performing software updates!

The web is the perfect platform for business software applications. So, if your business is still relying on OS-based software, then it’s time to try something new! Enigin have!

The Enigin Knowledge Base: It’s getting close now!

posted by enigin in Enigin Software

Enigin I’ve been spending this week working on our new knowledge base which will be launching in January 2010. The knowledge base will be a self-service system to allow our Distributors to find answers to common questions about our products and other useful information about how to promote and build your business.

We built the Enigin Knowledge Base on top of our Content Management System, Igloo. This gave us the flexibility to structure the new site to our requirements in a relatively short timeframe. In addition, it allows our team to manage new articles and content themselves.

This week our Business Development Team will be adding content to the ‘base including some tasty new screencast tutorials recorded by Calvin and myself. Video over the Internet is the perfect medium for learning and we are hoping that these new screencasts will be extremely useful for our Enigin Distributors.

Watch out for more news about the launch of our Knowledge Base in 2010!

Enigin Provides Online Software for Energy Professionals

posted by enigin in Enigin Software

Here at Enigin, we build innovative online software tools for our Energy Professionals to use to promote and manage their businesses. Our suite of applications is Internet-based, enabling them to access their vital business information from any computer around the world.

Nucleus - This bespoke CRM system is the centre of your business activities. Nucleus allows you to manage all your contacts and sales activity, allowing you to report on which of your sales people are performing the best. It also allows you to keep a record of all communication with a particular customer and to directly email groups of customers based on search conditions. Nucleus is also the control center for Enigin Eniscope setup and deployment.

ECOS - Our Enigin Customer Ordering System enables our distributors to order energy-saving products from us at wholesale prices and contains a wealth of product information to help them decide on the best products for their customers

Telesales - Our Telesales application enables a team of telephone sales personnel to process a database of prospects efficiently and effectively. The system has in-depth analytics allows a manager to view call statistics and success rates per person.

Emailer - The Emailer application is used to send out bulk mailings to prospects and includes statistics regarding Open/Click rates.

Igloo - Igloo is the Content Management System which powers our Distributor websites. It enables our distributors to manage their own websites without installing any software on their PC’s.

Knowledge Base - The Enigin Knowledge Base is the first port of call for our Distributors to find answers to 90% of their support queries. Due for launch in January 2010

Internal Tools - We also have many internal software tools to enable us to provide a high level of support to our distributors.

As you can imagine, our small team of developers certainly have a great deal of work on their plate, but we love it and are constantly looking to build new innovative tools.

If you would like to find our more about our software tools then please request a Business Information Pack from our Business Opportunity website, one of our Business Managers will be happy to answer your questions.

Screencast Videos for Enigin Software

posted by enigin in Enigin Development

Over the last month or so we’ve been busy recording a series of screencast videos for Enigin web applications. These are mainly to demonstrate our powerful suite of Sales and Marketing tools to our newly appointed distributors, but i’ve also found it useful to create videos for staff training. It sounds like an overkill but here’s the killer statement:

I recently completed a web application to manage Enigin PLC’s news articles from around the world and collate them on our various corporate websites. The system took around 5 days to build and is used by 7 people within Enigin. Before launching the application internally, I spend some time putting together a 6 minute tutorial video of how to use the system and explained all the basic functions. I sent this to each of the users along with their login details. 5 days later I have not answered a single ‘how to’ style support question!!

How cool is that?! I did the work, shipped the product and didn’t need to handle the tech support! That has to be every coders dream!

There will be another article on building screencasts in the near future but for the techies amongst you, here’s the software which I used:

  • iShowU HD - For recording the actual screen movements
  • Apple Final Cut Express - For editing the video, recording the voiceover and adding titles
  • Stomp - For compressing the final Quicktime movie in to a smaller file size
